Our Story
2013
N26 is founded in Berlin by Valentin Stalf and Maximilian Tayenthal, pioneering the way for modern, 100% digital banking.
2015
We launch Europe’s first mobile bank accounts. It shows that managing money on the go can be beautifully simple, easy, and transparent.
2016
We’re granted a full banking license and expand to 17 more countries. By law, each customer’s funds are protected up to €100,000 by the German Deposit Protection Scheme.
2018
We’re thrilled to reach a milestone of 2 million customers across 24 countries. LinkedIn ranks us as the #1 startup to work for in Germany.
2021
Forbes votes us as the Best Bank in the World. We become Germany’s highest-valued fintech with our $900+ million Series E funding round and $9+ billion valuation.
2022
We celebrate our 8 millionth customer and launch N26 Crypto — marking our next step beyond banking and into investments.
